Copia Global secures $20 million in funding round led by Enza Capital
Copia Global has raised $20 million in a Series C extension round led by Enza Capital. Other participants in the funding round include global private bank LGT, investment firm Goodwell Investments, the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), German financial service provider DEG, Swiss impact fund Elea, Perivoli Foundation and Sorenson Foundation.
Based on the fact Enza Capital played a prominent role in the funding round, John Lazar co-founder of Enza Capital will be joing Copia’s board. John Lazar, ex-CEO of Metaswitch, a Microsoft subsidiary, co-founded Enza Capital in 2019. He is also the Chair at Raspberry Pi Foundation and an angel investor and mentor in the U.K. and Africa, with over 40 pre-seed and seed investments.
Including the $50 million it raised in January 2022, Copia Global has raised over $120 million since inception. Launched in Kenya in 2013, Copia Global harnesses mobile technologies, a network of local Agents and proprietary Copia Logistics to reach a market that formal retail and Western e-commerce models cannot. South African Parcel Shipping Platform TUNL Secures $1 Million in Pre-Seed Funding for Expansion

South African parcel shipping platform, TUNL, has successfully secured $1 million in pre-seed funding from notable investors, including Founders Factory Africa, Digital Africa Ventures, E4E Africa, and Jozi Angels. This funding injection will propel TUNL’s expansion within its primary market, South Africa, while also laying the foundation for its entry into other key African and emerging markets.
Founded in 2022 by CEO Matthew Davey and COO Craig Lowman, TUNL addresses the challenge of exorbitant international shipping costs faced by e-commerce merchants. Davey, the former managing director of a Dutch company importing South African engineering materials into Europe, identified the cumbersome and expensive nature of the shipping process. IFC Partners with Biovac to Boost Vaccine Production and Pandemic Preparedness in Africa
In a significant move to bolster vaccine production and enhance pandemic preparedness in Africa, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) has unveiled an investment and advisory support package for Biovac, a prominent South African biopharmaceutical company.
The IFC’s investment comprises a loan equivalent to $7 million rand, aimed at supporting Biovac’s ongoing production of a diverse range of vaccines, including those for HPV, meningococcal disease, cholera, and various pediatric vaccines.
Beyond the financial support, the IFC and Biovac have formalized a collaboration agreement, with the IFC committing to provide project development support for Biovac’s ambitious plan to construct a new multi-vaccine production facility in Cape Town.....….read more
