Egypt to Host First Hydrogen-Powered Skyscraper in Africa
Magnom Properties, a Saudi-controlled real estate firm, is set to construct a hydrogen-powered skyscraper in Egypt’s burgeoning New Administrative Capital (NAC). This project, as outlined in the partnership announcement, is a big step forward in building green cities. It shows Egypt is working to become a leader in clean energy in the region.
The 50-story Forbes International Tower, designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, is a $1 billion project set to begin construction in early 2025 and be completed by 2030. The project is being undertaken by Magnom Properties, a subsidiary of the Saudi industrial group Rawabi Holding.
The skyscraper will be powered by hydrogen, a clean and renewable energy source. This innovative approach aligns with global sustainability goals and demonstrates the project’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions. EU Commits €3.5 Million to Expand Mpox Diagnostics in Africa

The European Union (EU) has announced a €3.5 million funding allocation to bolster mpox diagnostic capabilities across Africa. This significant investment comes as the continent grapples with a persistent mpox outbreak that has posed significant public health challenges.
The funding will be channeled towards enhancing laboratories, training healthcare workers, and procuring essential equipment for detecting and monitoring the virus. By strengthening Africa’s diagnostic capacity, the EU aims to improve surveillance, enable faster and more accurate case identification, and ultimately, facilitate effective response measures.
In addition to the financial commitment, the EU has also pledged to donate 215,000 doses of the MVA-BN mpox vaccine to African countries. The vaccine, approved for use in the EU for individuals aged 18 and older, will provide crucial protection against the virus...…....continue reading

US DOJ considering breaking up Google as an option….
The U.S. Department of Justice is considering options that include breaking up Alphabet's Google, a week after a judge ruled the tech giant illegally monopolized the online search market, according to Bloomberg News.
Shares of the California-based company were down about 3% at 1401 GMT on Wednesday, having fallen in after hours trading when Bloomberg published its report late on Tuesday.
A Justice Department spokesperson said it is evaluating the court's decision and will assess the appropriate next steps consistent with the court's direction and the applicable legal framework for antitrust remedies.
The verdict, delivered last week, held that Google violated antitrust law, spending billions of dollars to create an illegal monopoly and become the world's default search engine. AliExpress prepares to launch operations in Ethiopia
AliExpress, the global e-commerce platform owned by the Alibaba Group from China, is poised to expand its operations into Ethiopia, as indicated by Dr. Abiyot Bayu, the Senior Advisor to Ethiopia’s Minister of Innovation and Technology. An official statement regarding this development is anticipated to be released shortly.
This move comes half a decade after the Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation and Technology initiated a collaborative effort with Alibaba Group to bolster the digital economy sector within the country.
