FCCPC Withdraws Case Against MultiChoice Nigeria

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has withdrawn its criminal charges against MultiChoice Nigeria, CEO John Ugbe, and several directors after both parties reached an amicable settlement.

The case, which accused MultiChoice of obstructing an FCCPC investigation and failing to comply with a summons regarding its pricing practices for DStv and GOtv, was struck out by the Federal High Court in Abuja on October 7, 2025.

The withdrawal marks the end of a months-long legal standoff between the regulator and the pay-TV company, which began after the FCCPC launched an inquiry into alleged anti-competitive behaviour and repeated price hikes.......continue reading

Stop being the bottleneck

Every leader hits the same wall: too many priorities, not enough bandwidth. Wing clears that wall with a full-time virtual assistant who runs the drag layer so you lead, not chase.

  • Offload scheduling, inbox, follow-ups, vendor wrangles

  • Keep your stack, your process, your control

  • Scale scope as you scale revenue

This isn’t gig work. It’s dedicated support that shows up every day and allows founders to delegate without losing control.

Sorce, an AI-powered job search app that automates applications with a “swipe right to apply” feature, has joined Y Combinator’s F25 batch. Dubbed the “Tinder for jobs,” Sorce’s AI agent fills out application forms, writes cover letters, and tracks progress—eliminating the repetitive work of traditional job hunting.

Founded in 2024 by Daniel Ajayi, David Alade, and Oluwapelumi Dada, the startup combines strong engineering backgrounds with a consumer-friendly design. The team’s hustle and early traction helped them secure YC’s backing.....…..continue reading

Team Brazil Wins E1 Lagos GP as Electric Powerboat Racing Debuts in Africa

Lagos made history as the first African city to host the UIM E1 World Championship, the world’s top all-electric powerboat series, on Lagos Lagoon. Team Brazil, led by Timmy Hansen and Ieva Millere-Hagin, claimed victory at the E1 Lagos GP presented by FirstBank, edging out Team Blue Rising and Team Drogba Global Africa after a weather delay.

The E1 Series—dubbed the “Formula One of the Sea”—features high-speed, zero-emission RaceBird boats that combine performance with sustainability. The Lagos event highlighted the city’s innovation and tourism potential, drawing global attention through celebrity team owners like Tom Brady, Rafael Nadal, Will Smith, Didier Drogba, and LeBron James....continue reading

Cameroon Election 2025: Allegations of AI-Generated Campaign Videos Spark Disinformation Fears

Cameroon President, Paul Biya

Social media users in Cameroon are accusing pro-government accounts of spreading AI-generated campaign videos ahead of the October 12, 2025 presidential election. The slick, narrator-led clips promoting government achievements are alleged to have been created with generative tools, though independent verification remains limited.

Authorities and civil society groups had warned earlier in 2025 about potential misuse of AI in politics, following past deepfake incidents—including false videos about President Paul Biya and other public figures. With Biya, 92, seeking an eighth term, online trust is fragile, and even legitimate campaign videos are being questioned as “AI-made.”....…..continue reading

ChatGPT Tops 800 Million Users, Nears One Billion

OpenAI’s ChatGPT has reached an estimated 800 million weekly active users, marking one of the fastest adoption surges in tech history and positioning the platform to hit one billion users by year’s end. The app’s rapid rise—doubling its user base in under a year—has made it a cornerstone of modern communication, creativity, and productivity.

OpenAI’s revenue has surged alongside usage, hitting an annual run rate of over $10 billion by mid-2025, with 10 million ChatGPT Plus subscribers and 92% of Fortune 100 companies using it. However, the platform’s global expansion has drawn regulatory scrutiny under frameworks like the EU AI Act, and it remains restricted in several countries, including China and Russia........continue reading

Paxful to Wind Down by November 1, 2025—What It Means for P2P Crypto Users

Paxful, once the world’s largest people-powered crypto marketplace, will shut down by November 1, 2025, ending a decade that popularized P2P trading across Africa and beyond. The company cites lasting fallout from pre-2023 misconduct by former co-founders Ray Youssef and Artur Schaback and unsustainable compliance remediation costs—framing the closure as strategic, not insolvency.

Operations had already been rocked since April 2023 by disputes and leadership turmoil; in July 2024, Schaback pled guilty to conspiring to willfully fail to maintain an effective AML program, underscoring steep regulatory repairs. Paxful says the wind-down is orderly, urging users to withdraw funds and promising clear communications. Impact: a P2P pioneer exits, liquidity shifts to other venues, and compliance becomes the competitive moat. For users: withdraw and archive records. For the industry: sustainable growth now demands industrial-grade AML/KYC as core infrastructure........continue reading
