Jumia Delivery launches in Nigeria, Targets Informal Sellers and SMEs

In a bold strategic shift, African e-commerce pioneer Jumia has opened its logistics infrastructure to third-party businesses—including social media sellers and informal merchants. With the launch of its new service, Jumia Delivery, the company is transforming itself from a traditional online marketplace into a central logistics and fulfillment player in Africa’s fast-growing digital economy. This move aligns with Jumia’s aggressive strategy to diversify revenue and accelerate its path to profitability.
Launched in Nigeria after a successful pilot in Côte d’Ivoire, Jumia Delivery allows third-party sellers to move packages across the country using Jumia’s existing fleet, warehouses, and network of 494 pickup stations. The company plans to expand the service to Kenya, Ghana, and Senegal, pending regulatory approvals......……continue reading

Microsoft Lays Off 3% of Workforce Amid Rising AI Investment Costs

Microsoft is undergoing another round of workforce reductions, trimming nearly 3% of its global staff, or roughly 6,000 employees. The decision comes despite reporting impressive financial results in recent quarters, underscoring the tech giant’s growing emphasis on operational efficiency and long-term bets on artificial intelligence (AI).
As of mid-2024, Microsoft employed approximately 228,000 people worldwide. While this latest round of cuts is far smaller than the 10,000 roles eliminated in 2023, it still represents one of the largest reductions since then. Notably, the layoffs are not related to employee performance—a spokesperson clarified that they are part of broader organizational changes to optimize for a fast-evolving market.......……continue reading

Samsung Unveils Galaxy S25 Edge: Where Sleek Design Meets Smart Power

Samsung has once again set the bar high with the launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge, a smartphone that perfectly blends ultra-slim aesthetics with high-performance features. This latest addition to the Galaxy S series isn’t just about looks—it’s an engineering marvel that redefines what’s possible in a flagship smartphone.
At just 5.8 mm thick and weighing only 163 grams, the Galaxy S25 Edge is one of the slimmest premium smartphones on the market. Despite its slender profile, the device doesn’t compromise on strength or quality. Its titanium metal frame provides impressive durability, while the curved-edge design offers a smooth, elegant finish that feels comfortable in hand.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is tailored for users who value performance and design equally. Professionals, creatives, and tech enthusiasts will appreciate its lightweight build, advanced display, and seamless software experience. It’s also ideal for photography lovers, as it retains Samsung’s top-tier camera system, including a 200MP main sensor with 2x optical-quality zoom, paired with a 12MP ultra-wide lens with autofocus for macro shots, and a 12MP front camera....……continue reading

MTN SA Launches $5 Low-Cost 4G Smartphones For The Poor

MTN South Africa has announced a bold initiative to distribute 1.2 million 4G smartphones to its prepaid customers at an unprecedented price of just 99 rands (approximately $5.42). The initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of 4G technology while phasing out legacy 2G and 3G networks, in line with South Africa’s broader digital migration strategy.
South Africa plans to decommission 2G and 3G mobile networks by 2027, with MTN set to shut down its 3G network by December 31, 2025. Transitioning users to 4G and 5G networks is expected to deliver faster internet speeds, greater reliability, and enable modern digital services such as video streaming, online gaming, and cloud-based applications.
This move represents a critical step in bridging the digital divide and supporting the country’s digital transformation goals........continue reading

JAMB UTME Crisis: 1.5 Million Low Scores, 8,000 Complaints — But Who’s Protecting the Students?

The 2025 UTME results are in. But instead of celebration, what we’re witnessing is confusion, heartbreak, and outrage. Out of 1.9 million students who sat for the JAMB exam, 1.5 million scored below 200 — a stat that has set social media on fire. But the why behind them is even more alarming than the numbers.
Students are not just failing — they’re being failed. This is not just a story about poor results. It’s a story about system failure, about silence from the top, and about a generation of young Nigerians now questioning their self-worth because of glitches they didn’t create.........continue reading
