Nigeria, NHIA Partner to Link Digital ID with Health System

Nigeria’s National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) have signed an MoU to integrate the National Identification Number (NIN) into the country’s health insurance database. The partnership aims to build a unified digital system that simplifies identity verification, curbs fraud, and expands healthcare access nationwide.
Under the agreement, NIMC will provide the infrastructure and technical support to link identity data with health records, improving transparency and reducing paperwork across the healthcare ecosystem. CANAL+ Finalizes MultiChoice Takeover and JSE Exit

CANAL+ Group has secured 94.39% ownership of MultiChoice Group (MCG), moving closer to completing its full acquisition of the African entertainment giant in one of the largest media mergers in African history.
With over 90% shareholder approval, CANAL+ will now initiate a compulsory “squeeze-out” to acquire the remaining shares under South Africa’s Companies Act, after which MultiChoice will be delisted from the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE)—pending regulatory clearance.
