Egypt Tackles Power Shortages with Ambitious 10-Gigawatt Wind Farm Construction in 2026

Egypt is taking a significant stride towards its renewable energy goals with the construction of a massive $10 billion wind farm, set to commence in March 2026. This ambitious project, poised to be one of the world’s largest, is expected to generate a substantial 10 gigawatts of power upon completion in 2032.

The wind farm, a collaborative venture between Egyptian firm Infinity and Abu Dhabi’s Masdar, faced initial delays due to land acquisition challenges in the Upper Egyptian region of West Sohag. However, as reported by Bloomberg, the project is now on track to break ground in early 2026.

This development comes at a crucial time for Egypt, which has been grappling with scheduled power outages due to soaring temperatures and rising electricity demand from its population of over 105 million. Previously, Nigerian creators faced limitations in accessing Facebook’s monetisation features unless they had a page managed from an eligible country.
