Nigeria set to launch 2700 CNG-powered vehicles by May 29

The Nigerian government, in collaboration with the private sector, is poised to launch its Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative, marking a significant step towards reducing reliance on traditional fuels and promoting environmental sustainability. With President Bola Tinubu's administration set to mark its first anniversary on May 29, the government is accelerating efforts to roll out the initiative, which aims to deploy thousands of CNG-powered buses and tricycles across the country.

As part of the N500 billion palliative budget, the Federal Government has allocated N100 billion to acquire 5,500 CNG vehicles, including buses and tricycles, as well as 100 electric buses. Additionally, over 20,000 CNG conversion kits will be purchased. Furthermore, there are plans in place to establish CNG refilling stations and electric charging stations across the country.

Under the initiative, approximately 2,700 CNG-powered buses and tricycles are slated for launch before May 29, with plans to establish 100 conversion workshops and 60 refueling sites across 18 states by the end of 2024. Wema Bank to award N70 million to innovators in Hackaholics competition

Wema Bank says it will award the best innovators in Africa the sum of N70 million through its startup-focused tech competition, Hackaholics.

According to a statement from the bank, the Hackaholics themed, “Meta-Idea: DigiTech Solutions for Africa’s Prosperity”,  marks the the 5th edition of the competition.

Wema Bank said the grand scale edition will be executed over six months, touring 10 universities across Africa and challenging the youths to pitch unique, innovative, and practical Digi-Tech solutions to positively impact the acceleration of progress, development, and prosperity in Nigeria and across the African continent..….continue reading
