Ogun State Launches AgriConnect to Digitally Empower 1,000 Farmers

With a bold stride toward digital agriculture, the Ogun State Government, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, has launched the AgriConnect Initiative—a pioneering programme aimed at empowering farmers with digital tools to boost productivity, enhance market access, and drive sustainable growth in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

The pilot phase of the initiative will benefit over 1,000 farmers, who will receive smart mobile devices equipped with Huawei’s AI-powered agronomic tools and bundled with free MTN-supported internet data. The programme leverages technology to provide real-time access to agronomy services, weather forecasts, pest control guidance, financial tools, and market intelligence—marking a major shift toward precision agriculture in the country.

Describing the initiative as a “gateway to opportunity,” Governor Dapo Abiodun said AgriConnect aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places food security and rural inclusion at the core of national development. He emphasized that the programme would not only revolutionize agricultural practices in Ogun State but serve as a model for digital inclusion across Nigeria...……continue reading

Energizing Education Programme Powers 24 Nigerian Campuses, More to Come by 2027

The Energizing Education Programme (EEP), a flagship initiative by the Federal Government of Nigeria, has made substantial strides in transforming energy access in tertiary institutions. Managed by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), the programme aims to provide reliable, sustainable, and clean energy to 37 federal universities and 7 teaching hospitals using solar hybrid and gas-fired power systems.

As of May 2025, 24 institutions have been successfully powered through the programme, according to official reports from the Ministry of Power and supported by updates in Punch and Nairametrics. This marks a significant turnaround for a programme that, just five years ago, was mired in delays, stalled sites, and unfulfilled promises.

The EEP was launched in 2016 with ambitious goals: reduce reliance on diesel generators, cut operational costs, support renewable energy education, and improve safety on campuses. Funded through Nigeria’s sovereign green bonds and with support from the World Bank and African Development Bank, the programme began with Phase I, targeting 9 federal universities and 1 teaching hospital........…continue reading

MultiChoice Group Reports 50% Drop in Trading Profit

As the company alerts investors to a significant reduction in its financial performance, MultiChoice has officially announced a drop in trading profits. MultiChoice predicted a 50% decline in trading profit for the fiscal year that ends on March 31, 2025, in a trading report that was made public on Thursday.

The corporation claims that a number of significant issues are to blame for this decline. Widespread piracy, intense competition from international streaming sites, and macroeconomic pressures are all contributing factors. The business has also made significant investments in Showmax, its streaming service, which has increased the financial burden.

MultiChoice claims that the impact of foreign exchange volatility has been significant. Significant currency devaluation has occurred in important sub-Saharan African markets, such as Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, and Angola. In terms of South African rand, this has drastically decreased the group’s earnings......…continue reading

The End of a Whirlwind Bromance: Trump and Musk Fall Out Amid Shifting Power Dynamics

The unlikely alliance between former U.S. President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk has come to a dramatic and public end. Once bound by mutual admiration and headline-making ventures, the two powerful figures have now turned on each other, highlighting deep ideological rifts and diverging ambitions.

The collapse of this political-tech bromance is more than just a personal spat—it represents a broader clash between traditional political power and rising techno-capitalist influence.

With Donald Trump now in his second term as President following a stunning political comeback in 2024, the stakes are higher than ever. Trump’s combative leadership style, populist rhetoric, and loyalty-based political structure are once again dominating Washington. Musk, meanwhile, commands unprecedented influence through his web of ventures spanning electric vehicles (Tesla), private space exploration (SpaceX), AI (xAI), brain-computer interfaces (Neuralink), and social media (X, formerly Twitter).

How It Started: Shared Disruption

Their relationship began during Trump’s first presidency in 2016, when Musk was appointed to the president’s advisory councils on business and manufacturing. At the time, it made sense—Trump was a businessman-turned-president looking to surround himself with other titans of industry. Musk, on his part, was riding the wave of Tesla’s explosive growth and SpaceX’s deepening relationship with NASA and the Pentagon......….…continue reading

Apple to Unveil Revamped iPhone, Safari, and Camera Apps at WWDC

Apple is gearing up for a major reveal next week, and reports suggest the tech giant will showcase revamped iPhone Safari and Camera apps as part of its next big update. With WWDC 2025 right around the corner, anticipation is running high among users and developers alike. From UI changes to AI-powered features, these updates could significantly enhance how millions of people interact with their Apple devices.

Sources close to Apple’s development team claim that the native apps on the iPhone are undergoing a significant update. Apple’s default web browser, Safari, comes first on the list. Although Safari currently has privacy-focused features, the updated version is anticipated to bring a more streamlined appearance, more intelligent search recommendations, and perhaps new tools for organizing and preserving content. Apple might also improve Safari’s AI capabilities so that it can help users with research tasks or summarize content. This is consistent with the business’s increasing focus on incorporating AI straight into iOS.

The Camera app is a major focus. Apple has continuously enhanced camera performance over time with both software and hardware. However, with new shooting modes, enhanced low-light capabilities, and possibly even professional-level editing tools integrated directly into the app, the revamped iPhone Safari and Camera apps are set to push this much farther. These features could remove the need for third-party editing programs and allow iPhone users more creative power..….…continue reading
