UK-based e-mobility company OX Delivers has inked a groundbreaking $163 million multi-year contract to launch its first franchise partner, OX East Africa, marking a pivotal step in its mission to transform transportation and trade in the Global South. This expansion will see the company’s innovative electric trucks and subscription-based services extending from Rwanda into neighboring countries including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Burundi.

A new player, eGroupX, has entered the South African financial and telecommunications sector, offering a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) service alongside a suite of other offerings. The fintech and connectivity group, which has established offices in Kenya, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and Angola, has now expanded its presence to South Africa. Their mission is to make financial and telecommunications services more accessible and affordable for millions of underserved individuals.
eGroupX integrates a network of financial and connectivity units to create an ecosystem aimed at serving low-income households, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and informal merchants across South Africa. The company prides itself on developing solutions that align with Africa’s financial landscape. Their offerings include banking, remittances, insurance, telecommunications, internet services, cryptocurrency offerings, and forex trading.
Their MVNO service, branded as eMobile, leverages partnerships with established telecom providers to deliver cost-effective mobile banking and onboarding solutions. Telecom giants collaborate to restore connectivity in war-torn Sudan
Sudan’s National Telecoms Corporation (NTC) and telecommunications provider Sudatel have formed a strategic partnership to provide much-needed connectivity to relief workers operating in the war-torn country. This collaboration aims to address the severe communication challenges that have plagued Sudan since the onset of the crisis in early 2023.
The partnership aligns with efforts by other organizations, including the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC), to restore connectivity after the ongoing conflict severely damaged the country’s telecom infrastructure. The destruction has left much of Sudan facing significant connectivity issues and widespread internet blackouts.
The ETC has been instrumental in maintaining communication links for relief workers, enabling them to respond more effectively to the humanitarian crisis. The conflict has displaced millions of people and led to outbreaks of disease and famine, making reliable communication channels critical for coordinating relief efforts....……continue reading

TelCables Nigeria, a subsidiary of Angola Cables, is set to establish a new point of presence (PoP) at the Lagos Rack Centre facility. This strategic move aims to provide low-latency interconnectivity and cloud access across West Africa, significantly enhancing the region’s digital infrastructure.
Fernando Fernandes, CEO of TelCables Nigeria and West Africa, emphasized that the primary objective of this expansion is to leverage the extensive Angola Cables backbone network. This will facilitate easier and more affordable access to digital content and services for businesses and communities throughout West Africa.

Safaricom’s M-PESA reaches 34 million customers, marking a significant milestone in financial inclusion
On Thursday, Safaricom, a leading telecommunications company in Kenya, announced that its mobile money service, M-PESA, had reached a significant milestone of 34 million customers as of November. In an official statement, Safaricom highlighted that this achievement underscores the company’s dedication to enhancing the financial well-being and prosperity of individuals and businesses across the African continent.

This accomplishment is a testament to our unwavering commitment to delivering seamless, reliable, and secure banking services to our users. Launched in March 2007, M-PESA will celebrate its 18th anniversary in March 2025.
