Nigeria Embraces IPv6, Quantum Leap in Digital Connectivity
The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to adopt Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), marking a significant step towards digital modernisation. This transition is expected to revolutionise how internet users and their devices are identified, numbered, and tracked within the country.
The announcement was made at the IPv6 Driven Digital Summit, a collaborative effort between the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Huawei, the IPv6 Forum, and the IPv6 Council of Nigeria. The summit, held under the theme “Bringing Net 5.5G Into Reality: Inspiring New Growth,” underscored the urgent need for Nigeria to migrate to IPv6 to meet the increasing demands of the digital age.

Finally the football G.O.A.T, Cristiano Ronaldo, is now on YouTube and he has done it in style. The 39-year-old Portuguese International and five-times Ballon D’Or winner launched his latest hustle on Wednesday to connect to his massive fanbase.
With over 900 million followers across various platforms (112.5 million on X platform, 170 million on Facebook and 636 million on Instagram), the Al-Nassr player has added his YouTube channel titled – UR- as his latest side hustle.
The YouTube channel garnered about 1.69 million subscribers within a few hours of its launch. Qatar Airways Acquires Stake in South African Carrier Airlink
Qatar Airways has recently expanded its footprint in the African aviation market by acquiring a 25% stake in South African regional airline Airlink. This strategic move is part of Qatar Airways’ broader objective to enhance its presence across the African continent.
The investment in Airlink, which operates flights across 15 African nations, is set to enhance the existing code-sharing agreement between the two carriers, facilitating more seamless travel options for passengers.
Additionally, the collaboration is set to align the loyalty programs of both airlines, Qatar Airways Privilege Club and Airlink Skybucks, offering greater rewards and benefits to frequent flyers. This decision marks the second instance of significant job reductions at Twiga, following the dismissal of 283 staff members in August 2023.

Affordable monthly Starlink kit rentals now available in Kenya for $15
In Kenya, individuals who find the cost of purchasing the Starlink internet kit prohibitive now have the option to rent the necessary equipment for a monthly fee of KES 1,950, which is equivalent to $15.15. This new rental opportunity was announced by the company on a Wednesday.
For those interested in this rental service, there is an initial activation charge of $21. Subsequently, customers have the choice of two data plans: a 50GB plan priced at KES 1,300 ($10) or an unlimited data plan for KES 6,500 ($50.50). Both plans provide internet speeds that can reach up to 200 Mbps.
In an effort to make its services more accessible, Starlink introduced a budget-friendly monthly plan costing KES 1,300 ($10) in June 2024.
