Samsung launches Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7

Samsung has unveiled its latest foldable smartphones—the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7—setting a new benchmark in design, performance, and intelligent features. The Galaxy Z Fold7, starting at $1,999, is Samsung’s slimmest Fold yet, featuring an 8-inch internal display and a wider 6.5-inch cover screen, both with 120Hz refresh rates. It’s powered by a next-gen Snapdragon chip, supports up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, and debuts a 200MP main camera. On-device AI enhances photography, multitasking, and real-time translation, while the refined hinge and stronger materials improve durability.
The Galaxy Z Flip7, starting at $1,099, emphasizes compact style with a larger, edge-to-edge 4.1-inch FlexWindow for quick access to apps. Inside is a 6.9-inch AMOLED display and a 4,300mAh battery—the largest yet in a Flip. AI-powered features like call screening and smart replies boost everyday utility, while a 50MP camera and upgraded FlexCam enable creative shooting.
Samsung also introduced the more affordable Flip7 FE model at a lower price point, expanding access to foldable tech. With both devices, Samsung continues to redefine what smartphones can do.…...…continue reading

Linda Yaccarino steps down as CEO of 𝕏

Linda Yaccarino announced that she is stepping down as CEO of 𝕏. According to her on her page, “When @elonmusk and I first spoke of his vision for X, I knew it would be the opportunity of a lifetime to carry out the extraordinary mission of this company. I’m immensely grateful to him for entrusting me with the responsibility of protecting free speech, turning the company around, and transforming X into the Everything App.
Elon Musk responded within an hour saying “Thank you for your contributions.”
Linda Yaccarino’s abrupt exit from X has reignited speculation about the company’s internal dynamics and leadership tensions. Though she offered no clear explanation for her decision, the timing was striking—her announcement came just hours after Grok, the company’s AI chatbot, was pulled offline for generating antisemitic content. Coincidentally, her departure also coincided with Elon Musk’s anticipated unveiling of Grok 4, the latest version of the chatbot........…continue reading

DPI invests $190 million to fuel Alameda Healthcare’s regional expansion

Development Partners International (DPI), a premier pan-African investment firm, together with a consortium of its co-investors, has entered into a definitive agreement to invest $190 million in Alameda Healthcare Group, one of Egypt’s foremost private healthcare providers. The investment will be structured as a minority equity stake and will primarily take the form of a capital injection aimed at accelerating the company’s growth trajectory.
The transaction is currently pending customary regulatory approvals and other closing conditions, with completion anticipated in the third quarter of 2025. This strategic investment is designed to support Alameda Healthcare’s ambitious expansion plans, both within Egypt and across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The capital infusion will enable the group to scale its operations, enhance its service delivery capabilities, and extend its reach to underserved communities, thereby reinforcing its position as a regional healthcare leader......…continue reading

Competition Tribunal greenlights Vodacom–Maziv merger under strict oversight

South Africa’s Competition Tribunal has conditionally approved Vodacom’s R13.2 billion acquisition of a 30–40% stake in Maziv, the parent company of Dark Fibre Africa and Vumatel, reversing a 2024 block due to competition concerns. The approval comes with strict behavioural and investment-related conditions to prevent anti-competitive practices and protect market fairness.
Vodacom must limit access to sensitive competitor information, ensure fair pricing for rival ISPs, invest R13 billion over five years, and connect at least one million new homes to fibre. The Tribunal acknowledged that Vodacom’s board influence could distort competition in key fibre markets, but opted for enforceable safeguards over outright prohibition.
This decision is seen as a strategic win for Vodacom as it pivots to fixed broadband amidst slowing mobile revenue. It also reflects a regulatory shift toward conditional approvals that balance investment with competition. While Telkom and other rivals remain concerned about Vodacom’s growing influence, the ruling is a pivotal moment for South Africa’s digital infrastructure strategy and fibre sector consolidation.....…continue reading

Hinckley E-Waste Recycling Secures Investment to Build Nigeria’s First Battery Recycling Plants

Hinckley E-Waste Recycling Ltd, a trailblazer in Nigeria’s circular economy, has secured fresh backing from Goodwell Investments and Alitheia Capital to expand its operations. The funding, channeled through the uMunthu II impact fund, will finance the development of Nigeria’s first dedicated lithium-ion and lead-acid battery recycling plants in Ogun State. Set to process up to 30,000 tonnes of e-waste annually, the new facilities will also support Hinckley’s growing export operations, positioning the company as a regional leader in sustainable recycling.
This investment also marks Goodwell’s first venture into the waste management space, signaling rising investor confidence in Africa’s green infrastructure potential. As the volume of discarded electronics and batteries increases, Hinckley is stepping up to offer both environmental and economic solutions to a critical challenge.........…continue reading
