Sycamore Wins $100k in Second Edition of NSIA Prize for Innovation
The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) announced Sycamore as the winner of the second edition of the NSIA Prize for Innovation (NPI 2.0). Kunda Kids followed closely in the second position and PaveHQ emerged in third place. The innovators won US$100,000, US$70,000, and US$50,000 respectively, bringing the total combined prize value to US$220,000
This announcement came after an intensive assessment of pitches from ten innovators by an expert panel of judges, who evaluated based on market potential, team composition, traction, and competitiveness of the proposed solutions.
The NSIA Prize for Innovation is a multi-year initiative designed to identify and nurture early-stage businesses with the potential for transformative impact in Nigeria.β¦....continue reading

Nvidia is working on a version of its new flagship AI chips for the China market
Nvidia is working on a version of its new flagship AI chips for the China market that would be compatible with current U.S. export controls, four sources familiar with the matter said.
The AI chip giant in March unveiled its "Blackwell" chip series, which is due to be mass-produced later in the year. The new processors combine two squares of silicon the size of the company's previous offering. Within the series, the B200 is 30 times speedier than its predecessor at some tasks like serving up answers from chatbots.
Nvidia will work with Inspur, one of its major distributor partners in China, on the launch and distribution of the chip which is tentatively named the "B20", two of the sources said...β¦....continue reading

UNAIDS solicits $29 billion fund for Nigeria, other low-income countries to end HIV epidemic

The Joint United Nations Programme on AIDS (UNAIDS) has solicited for an increase in annual investments in HIV responses to $29 billion for Nigeria and other low- and middle-income countries to end the HIV epidemic.
This call to action comes from the 2024 Global AIDS Report, which highlights the urgent need for increased funding to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic effectively.
