🪙 CRYPTOCURRENCY
Coinbase Breach Exposes Insider Threats as Exchange Offers $20m Bounty for Hackers

In a cyberattack that has sent shockwaves through the cryptocurrency industry, Coinbase, one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges, has confirmed a data breach resulting from an insider threat. The attack, which affected less than 1% of its 9.7 million monthly users, has reignited concerns about the vulnerability of centralized crypto platforms—particularly to internal compromise.
According to a regulatory filing and public statements, Coinbase disclosed that several overseas support contractors were bribed by cybercriminals to extract sensitive customer data from internal systems. The attackers used this information to launch a social engineering campaign, impersonating Coinbase to defraud users and ultimately demanding a $20 million ransom to keep the stolen data private.
Rather than comply, Coinbase took a bold step: it refused the ransom and instead offered a $20 million bounty for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible...…..…continue reading

Remita Sets Sights Beyond Nigeria in Pan-African Fintech Growth Push

Remita, Nigeria’s leading digital payment platform developed by SystemSpecs, is ready to take on a larger stage. After establishing itself as a key player in Nigeria’s public and private payment ecosystems, the company is now actively exploring expansion beyond Nigeria’s borders, positioning itself as a contender in Africa’s fast-growing fintech space.

Fortnite Faces New Ban on Apple Devices Despite Epic Games’ Court Victories

In a fresh twist to their long-running legal feud, Fortnite has once again been banned from iPhones and other Apple devices in both the United States and the European Union. The move comes despite Epic Games’ recent legal victories against Apple, reigniting the complex and high-stakes battle between the gaming giant and the tech titan over app distribution rights and marketplace fairness.
Epic Games made the announcement on its official Fortnite X account, stating that Apple had blocked its latest submission of the Fortnite app, preventing its release on both the U.S. App Store and Epic’s own Epic Games Store for iOS in the EU. As a result, the company confirmed that Fortnite will be offline worldwide on iOS until Apple lifts the block.
The current ban is the latest development in a bitter legal saga that began in 2020, when Apple first removed Fortnite from the App Store after Epic implemented an alternative in-app payment system, violating Apple’s strict policies. That move sparked multiple lawsuits, including an antitrust case where Epic accused Apple of maintaining an illegal monopoly over app distribution and payments on iOS devices....……continue reading

In a significant move to accelerate digital inclusion across Africa, Orange Middle East and Africa (OMEA) has partnered with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to expand access to sustainable digital infrastructure in eight underserved countries across West and Central Africa. The announcement was made during the Africa CEO Forum, held in Abidjan on May 12–13, 2025.
This strategic collaboration seeks to address persistent connectivity gaps by combining Orange’s on-ground telecom network and expertise with IFC’s development financing and advisory strength. The goal is clear: build the digital foundations that will enable millions of Africans in rural and underserved regions to access mobile services, broadband internet, and digital financial tools.
Orange MEA, which operates in 18 African and Middle Eastern countries and serves over 161 million customers, is no stranger to scale. The company’s mobile money service, Orange Money, is active in 17 countries and has over 100 million users. Now, it is doubling down on infrastructure, with IFC as a key ally.....……continue reading
